Surgical Extractions · Lafayette, ColoradoA clear plan for the next step.

When removal is appropriate, understanding the reason, the procedure, and the recovery helps you make an informed decision. Preserving a tooth remains part of the discussion whenever reasonable.

Planned for our February 2027 opening. Treatment availability and suitability will be confirmed before scheduling.

Why surgery may be needed.

A tooth may be too damaged to restore, have a poor prognosis, or be difficult to access. A surgical extraction may involve additional access or dividing the tooth so it can be removed. Dr. Ryan Hofsess is skilled in a wide range of surgical extractions and can manage most cases in the office.

An examination and appropriate imaging help establish the approach. Proximity to nerves or sinuses can affect the complexity and sometimes make a specialist the best choice for the surgical part of your care.

Before the appointment.

Your medical history, medications, allergies, and previous experiences with dental care matter. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own; any changes need coordination with the appropriate clinician.

We will discuss the procedure and your comfort options before treatment. If you feel anxious, ask Dr. Hofsess about minimal oral sedation options. We will review your health and medications together to decide what is appropriate and explain any preparation or transportation needs.

Plan recovery before treatment.

We will provide individualized aftercare instructions, explain the expected healing, and give you a clear way to contact the team and Dr. Hofsess with questions or concerns. Recovery varies with the procedure and your health.

Discuss transportation, time away from activities, food choices, and any prescribed medication with your clinician. Persistent bleeding, worsening swelling, or other concerning symptoms need prompt professional guidance.

Think beyond the extraction.

If a tooth will be replaced, the future restoration can affect decisions at the extraction visit. Grafting may be considered in some cases; it is not necessary or suitable for everyone.

An implant, bridge, or removable replacement may be appropriate. We will discuss sequence, healing, referral needs, and costs as part of the overall plan.

A few helpful answers.

Will all extractions be performed at Rooted?

Dr. Hofsess plans to provide extractions at Rooted as part of a coordinated approach to urgent care and tooth replacement. Case complexity and your health help determine the best setting. If specialist care is the right choice, we will help you understand and coordinate that next step.

Can an implant be placed at the extraction visit?

Many times, yes. When the bone, socket, and implant stability are suitable, we can combine extraction and implant placement in one surgical visit. Significant grafting or other findings may make a separate placement appointment the better approach. We will plan this with you using your examination and CBCT imaging.

General education, not a diagnosis or an individual treatment recommendation. An examination is needed to discuss your options.
