Digital Smile Design · Lafayette, ColoradoGood design begins with listening.
See the possibilities in your own smile. We use photography, intraoral scanning, digital design, and 3D printing to bring a proposed smile into your mouth before you commit to treatment.
Planned for our February 2027 opening. Treatment availability and suitability will be confirmed before scheduling.
Start with the end in mind.
Your smile moves with you. Thorough photography and a 3D intraoral scan help us design around your face, lips, gums, and the way your teeth meet. We begin with your goals and a careful examination, then shape a plan around both appearance and function.
The design gives us a destination. From there, we can work backward to determine which teeth need treatment, which materials suit the plan, and how much healthy tooth we can preserve.
Try the smile on your teeth.
Using 3D printing, we create a physical smile mock-up that you can try directly over your teeth. You can look in the mirror, talk, and smile with the proposed shapes in place. Together, we can refine the design in the chair while it is still easy to make changes.
This happens before irreversible tooth preparation and before you commit to full treatment. It is a chance to find a direction you feel happy with and understand how we would get there.
A small first step, with room to decide.
The mock-up visit has a small fee, which we explain before the appointment. If you choose to proceed, that fee is credited toward your total treatment cost.
Once you are comfortable with the design, we will explain the materials, preparation for each tooth, treatment sequence, maintenance, and total estimate. Whether a tooth needs no preparation, minimal preparation, or more space for the restoration, the choice follows the design and your tooth’s health.
A few helpful answers.
Will my teeth be prepared for the mock-up?
The smile mock-up is tried over your teeth before irreversible preparation. It lets you explore the design and make adjustments with Dr. Hofsess before deciding whether to proceed with full treatment.
Is digital smile design only for veneers?
No. It can help plan different cosmetic or restorative approaches and compare how much treatment is appropriate.
General education, not a diagnosis or an individual treatment recommendation. An examination is needed to discuss your options.
